SINAMICS G120 drives on Common DC Bus

Navnag Platinum Member Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 7/25/2025 Posts: 2326 Rating: (309)	Hello Experts We have to install G120 drives in a processing line, in which some of the drives will be in Re-Generation. However Regeneration power will always if substantially less ( Max upto 50% ) of the total power. Can we connect the DC Terminals of the G120 drives to each other so that the Re-generated power from the Regenerating drives can be utilised by the remaining drives which are in Motoring mode. This way we can save overall energy consumed. We cannot use S120 in this case due to budget limitations. I have seen DC terminals of ABB drives connected to each other for the same purpose. Please Advise Cheers Navnag

From technical view I should work like Micromaster (but notPM240-2 Framesize A): http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/22093973 Maybe you can discuss this with your SIEMENS sales partner. I think it`s more a topic because of EMC. Further SIEMENS would have to do a systemtest for a combination where a S120 booksize combination would be a good solution. Zako

If this was possible with MM440 ( As is clear from the link that you posted ), I would be surprised of G120 ( PM240 ) does not support his. After all G120 is supposed to be the next generation drive after MM4 ... We frequently use S120 on common DC Bus, but cost limitations do not allow us to use S120. Cheers Navnag
