TIA Portal problem with upload/download due to version mismatch

proov123 Posts: 77 Rating: (3)	I have problem with using different versions of TIA Portal. I have a project made with TIA Portal V11 running in the S7-1200 PLC. The problem is that we are now using TIA Portal V13 and I can't do an upload because of the different versions. What should I do? Another problem is that i would like to download only 1 DB and 1 FC (just download, not to overwrite) but when I'm trying to do that TIA Portal says that the whole V11 project will be converted to V13 (overwriting all data?) and I'm afraid that data in the DBs will be erased. Is there a way how I can download 1 DB and 1FC made in V13 to V11 project so that the data in the DBs wouldn't be erased?

proov123 Posts: 77 Rating: (3)	Well, I did now. It appears that an upload (even when working with different versions) can be made when clicking on "backup from online device". Description: "A 1:1 copy of the marked online station (software and hardware) is made and transferred to your PG/PC including the date and time. Multiple backups are possible. You cannot edit the backup. You can transfer the backup into the device again later to restore the current status." What do they mean with "cannot edit the backup"? It what shape or form will that backup be? An usual V11 project? Why can't I edit it, then? The question about loading a few new blocks into a PLC without erasing DB data when using different versions of TIA Portal (PLC - V11 and PC - V13) still stands. EDIT: I tried the backup thing in office with another S7-1200 PLC. The "backup from online device" button is grayed out. Only "Upload from device (software)" and "Upload device as new station (hardware and software)" are available. If these two are available then why the first one is grayed out? I was online when I tried this.

After convert a V11 to V13 new Compiler and Memory/Data Alignment is active in the project and you must download the whole project to get a consistency in the project. Workaround: Install TIA V11 sidebyside to V13, the licence for TIA V13 canbe used for V11. Regards Christoph

Dear Proov123, You can do 1 thing convert the whole program to the V13 but make sure that is the latest backup. Then open db and go online you will be able to see all the values online then we have a facility of taking the snapshot of this values in TIA and the there is another facility of moving all the snapshot values to the initial values of the variable of the db Now this will resolve your problem that you face in complete download of the program....
