Difference between CF Cards for D410-2 and D4x5-2

Navnag Platinum Member Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 1/8/2026 Posts: 2327 Rating: (309)	Hello Experts What is the difference between the CF Cards for : SIMOTION D410-2- 6AU1400-1PA22-0AA0 ) and SIMOTION D4x5-2 - 6AU1400-2PA22-0AA0 Can I use them interchangeably by loading the relevant firmware on the CF Card ? HoweverI was searching in AD Support and Stumbled onto the attached document . On Page 64 it says : --- A new boot loader can be written to the CF card using SCOUT via "Options > Write boot sector". By adapting the formatting, boot loader and firmware, the 1 GB CompactFlash cards can also be used for other SIMOTION D control units. --- We had received a wrong CF card ( - 2PA22 instead of -1PA22 ) for a D410-2. I have just updated its boot sector with : D410_2_boot1024.bin file . The D410_2 seems to have accepted the CF card with changed boot sector. DavidBrown Posts: 975 Rating: (9)	1) As we can conclude from the previous posts, we can make a CF card that was initially intended for D410-2 working for D4x5-2 and the other way around, by updating the bootloader by Scout? 2) What if we have a CF card for D4x5-2 and want to use it in older Simotion D4x5. Is this possible by updating the bootloader and copying an image from the original card (that was in the D4x5) to the new card? Is downgrading the bootloader possible if I have Scout 4.4?

The D4x5-2 card can also be used in the old D410, only the D410-2 need it's own bootloader. Regards Christoph
