Anybody know how to animate the text of a button? Not the font, but the actual text.

This isn't only related to faceplates because I haven't been able to animate them outside of faceplates, but I'm creating generic faceplates that have multiple buttons. This is where I have the issue. These buttons will be used for multiple purposes, so when creating an instance of this faceplate I'd like to change the text of the button to things like Enable, Start, Reset, etc. - depending on what it will be doing exactly. So in the faceplate I'd like to breakout the button text to a faceplate property that can be edited whenever I create instances of the faceplate.

Text fields can be animated, but placing text over the button blocks the button. It seems strange that I wouldn't be able to animate the button text in the same way that I can animate a static text field, so I'm thinking I must be doing something wrong..

First off, thank you Silenosss for your response. This seems doable, however, I can think of a couple issues with that approach.

1. Using a text list would require a link to a tag as well. Just to clarify, I don't need to change the textEVER once I'm in runtime - only during development when I am adding instances of the faceplates. I just need different instances of the same faceplate to have different text for the button. I suppose I could create internal tags and use them as constants which will select the text from the text list. I think this would work, but it's defnitely odd and there may be some incorrect text shown for a moment when the screens load.

2. I can't even select "text list" in my button properties. It is greyed out (I've attached a picture). What version are you using? Your property categories on the left seem different than mine as well. My fill pattern selection is part of the appearance category.
