In my project I have an S7-400 PLC (414-3EM06-0AB0 firmware 6.0.3) for project reasons i have to communicate with an S7-1200 system. Since the S7-1200 will be programmed by another manufacturer communication has to be performed from the S7-400 with PUT/GET communication. Because the manufacturer does not want to implement any code for communication.

In the past I have set-up PUT/GET communication between S7-300 and S7-400 systems and always without any problem. But this time I cannot get it to work.

In order to test the communication before the actual S7-1200 from the manufacturing arrives. If have setup an S7-1200 (6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0) in the same network.

S7-400: 192.168.201.165

S7-1200: 192.168.201.168

The S7-1200 is plugged in directly into the S7-400.

In the S7-1200 i have created two identical DB's without optimized access. DB200 is the DB where i will GET data with the S7-400. DB201 is the DB where i will PUT data with the S7-400. On the S7-1200 side i made a small program that increments an integer value in DB200.

On the S7-400 side I made a S7 Connection (adressing with IP) to the S7-1200. For the communicatio I am using SFB14 "GET" (version 1.0) with off course it's unique instance DB. I filled in the ID and the pointers to remote and local PLC. But when i run my program i keep getting Error code 2 on the PUT and GET.

Error code 2 according to the help is: "Negative acknowledgement from the partner device. The function cannot be executed."

So i would think S7-1200 is not capable of PUT/GET communication, but every documentation of the S7-1200 system says this is possible since FW2.0.

Any ideas?

Did you enable the PUT and GET in S7-1200?

Go to the properties of the CPU -> protection and here you can enable the possibility to use PUT and GET instructions from another partner.

I shared the picture because..
The first time I worked with PUT/GET on the S7-1200 FW4,
I missed the fact that scrolling down was needed - just like you said.
