Hi, Regarding to use one sided config. The configuration you uploaded in your initial post is similar to a so called "single-channel, one-sided I/Os" config. You can read about this in SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H manual under chapter "13.2 Using single-channel, one-sided I/Os". So there is some literature to study for that if you want to consider to implement this. Anyways just a comment on Y link: Have you considered to use something like ("H-System"->"Y-link"->"DP/DP"->"3rd Party DP A" )? The same for the "3rd Party DP B"? Think about it! |

Hi, I do not think you can set up DP/DP couplers as redundant module. Note: The SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H detail how to use "fault-tolerant S7 connections" . Your questions regarding to the S7-400H/Y-link/Coupler: Switch over. The Y-link should handle the switchover on same manner on both couplers. In SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H manual page 169 you can read: "The path via the currently active DP interface or PROFINET interface is called the active Failure downstream Y-link. As you can read DP/DP Coupler page 1-3 under features: "If one side fails, the output values of the other are retained" As you see the options with a DP/DP coupler are limited. Note: why not consider to implement something like one of the example in SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H chapter "14.6 Communication via fault-tolerant S7 connections"? I think we are going into the deep end of H systems so maybe this topic should be better discussed further in the S7-400H conference. I hope I could help! |
