TIA Portal v13: S7-1500 & RF180C problems

harha Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hey, I couldn't find an identification systems subforum so I decided to post this here. Please move this topic to the correct place if this isn't one. Anyways, my problem is simply this; I have the latest GSD libraries and whatnot for the rf180c module on TIA Portal v13. I got the module to communicate with my PLC's CPU pretty much instantly and the supplied FB45 is reading the correct datablock (single channel) and the datablock structure is the supplied MOBY_Params_e one. I've set-up all other required datablocks (For data write/read, for command write/read, etc..) and the FB45 seems to find all of them and use them accordingly. No errors are detected in the whole project when I'm online inspecting it, only positive messages in diagnostics also, and so on. Everything should work fine, but after setting all the correct parameters to the MOBY_Params_e database for channel 1 and executing the init_run bit the ASM thinks for a split second (ASM_Busy goes true and then false) and after that the error bit for the SLG is set true and Error_FB has an error message of 1C stored in it. If I try to execute some command it tries to do that but Error goes on or Off depending on the command I execute, noithing else. The module I/O address area is 256-259 and I've set the ASM_Address to 256 as described in the manual, at first I was trying to use the profibus hardware identification id but realized quickly that it was incorrect and after that the communication between PLC and the RF180C module started working. The module has a firmware version of v2.1.0, I downloaded the latest v2.2.1 firmware from the Siemens support site and tried to update the module's firmware using TIA Portal's online settings menu for the selected module -> firmware update and selected the header.upd file from the update package and executed the update. The module tries to download the update and the leds start to blink like they would while an update is progress according to the manual but progress doesn't go further than 0%. After a while an error message box pops up saying the module cannot receive the update for some reason, no other explanation whatsoever. I've literally tried everything that makes sense to me and no matter what I do the module just keeps behaving exactly the same, Err_1 & Err_2 leds blinking in 3 second intervals and the Profibus leds signaling that the communication between reader and plc is working via profinet and the module is ready to take commands. Is there something obvious I'm missing here? The whole PLC system consists of a new S7-1500 safety CPU, DI/DO modules and an AI/AO module. Also there's an ET200SP connected to it via profinet with a bunch of normal and safety I/O cards & 2 TM Count cards for decoding a few pulse input signals. Also there's a simple touch panel HMI connected via profinet as well. Everything else except the RF180C works fine, RF180C has two RF240R readers connected to it and their leds are blinking constantly with green color. It's just a setup at my school, an university of applied sciences. I'm a 2nd year automation engineering student there and this is one of those mysteries nobody has solved there since these stations were just ordered & installed, it was actually my job to install them during this summer. Everything else works beautifully and TIA Portal is a great program when compared to the older Step7, but this mystery sadly stays unsolved. Manuals haven't helped me much, I can't find any information about the 1C error message in the Error_FB variable. I tried to look at the STL code of FB45 and found the line where 1C is set (It's at the bottom of an else if list, the last one without if, so it defaults to 1C as a last choice), but unfortinately my working contract there ended today so I have no reason to go back to school until next september so I can't really inspect it further until then. Anyways, I'm asking this here and hoping someone who has a bit more knowledge of this module has any idea what could be my problem / mistake here. It's just bugging my mind. Thanks in advance!

The RF180C didn't want to work in the Standard Profile / Normal Addressing mode using HW_CONNECT data structure either. As I said; I've tried everything, yet the result is always the same (Error_FB true, Error 1C)... And I want to be able to use the FB45 for controlling the RF180C so that mode isn't a choice anyways.

If the Init_Run (=reset+loading input parameters) works, the reader's LEDs should shine constantly green. That's what the manual says to 1C: The antenna of the reader is turned off. A tag command to the CM was started in this status. • Turn on the antenna with the "SET-ANT" command • The antenna is turned on (off) and has received an additional turnon (turn-off) command. Maybe try using the ANT command, for switching on the antenna...

Hey, As I mentioned in my initial message, I can access the system next time as late as next september when school begins again. Anyways, I can remember most of the parameters from the top of my head. ASM_Address: 256 (RF180C Input area is set to 256-259 in the hardware config & Output area is the same) ASM_channel: 1 command_DB_number: 47 if I remember correctly, I had manually set the command database number to this exact number so it should be right command_DB_address: 0 MDS_control: 1 (I've tried the ANZ presence mode on true and false, no change) RESET_long: true MOBY_mode: B#16#5 (MOBY U / D / RF200 / RF300 / RF600 standard addressing) scanning_time: 0 option_1: 0 multitag: B#16#1 I've created the datablocks (MOBY_Params_e, MOBY_Cmd_e and so on...) by first creating an empty datablock, assigning the wanted number to it and then using the data structures provided with the libraries by creating instances of them into the datablocks. So that datablock MOBY_Params_e has one instance of the struct MOBY_Params_e inside it and configured (hopefully properly), and so on... I've also set it so that the variable offsets are seen. Hopefully that was enough information, I don't have TIA Portal @ home so I can't really access the project from here. Thanks in advance, appreciate your help guys! Maybe try using the ANT command, for switching on the antenna... I found the same line while I was still working at school and investigating this. I forgot to mention that in my post, I tried the ANT command and a NEW 1E error pops up and if I remember correctly I couldn't find any info about that. That's as far as I got I think with investigating this. I would go right into looking at the code of FB45 right now if I just could, to find the cause of 1E... I'll look into this later this evening, now I gotta go, maybe 1E is explained somewhere in some manual after all.

I remember that I wondered about this, yet I still never tried to set it to unoptimized mode. I've never before encountered a block that doesn't work in optimized mode, so I've never really even read about the difference between optimized and unoptimized. If it really is so, that it doesn't work in optimized mode, then that most certainly is my problem. Thanks again!
