Hi, IBN is correct, this can be difficult to find the root cause. Here is my offering, we were called to a similar issue on a chassis VC drive which was around 12 years old. See pictures attached, there was quite a spectacular explosion (even the panel door required panelbeating ), on further investigation, all the DC insulator sheets had become brittle and had failed. One reason - HEAT. Unsurprisingly, there was rectifier damage and in our case, the IGBT's and IGD card had to be replaced as well. All the DC busbar "plates" had to be replaced, so in effect, a whole new chassis section (Well actually, we saved the pre-charge resistor ) I'm not saying this is your cause, but it is something to consider. Yes capacitors do go boom from time to time, but in my experience it is still rare. Masterdrives are quite hardy, they will protect themselves reasonably well from voltage spikes and output events (Motor & cable shorts etc) so unless it was a particularly bad supply transient, but you would know about that due to other equipment issues.
