Dear Experts,

We are facing a problem, Sinumerik 840D-sl  shows "231407 encoder alarm on rotary naxis" machine equiped with double encoder. 

How can I understand the exactly which encoder is btroken?

No. If the encoder is parameterized as a direct measuring system & does not relate with motor control, F232407 would be displayed.

Axis equipped with two encoder.  And external encoder is active for positioning.
In this case, problem come may be from motor encoder?

Yes, may come, but in such case fault would be 232407 & not 231407.

Eventually spoke with local Siemens and they says that "1" motor and "2" seperate encoder.

I have the same problem. Did you have to replace the encoder?
