Just be aware that there is a software bug in Firmware 3.8 and is particular to FS09 hardware versions.  Apparently, FS09 brought in a new processor, and the firmware has bugs in it.  These drives would have been sold in the Feb-Apr 2016 time frame.

Symptoms include frequency output with no voltage, software faults F100, F52, F60, and others.  Unfortunately, Siemens is not putting out a tech alert or a notice to the field because it doesn't present a safety issue.  The fix is to upgrade the firmware to 3.9.  You need a loader, and the firmware files from the support site.  The firmware is listed as a "sales release", but not as a FAQ, fix, etc.

I am putting this in the forums so that it is searchable via Google and others won't have to struggle to find the issue, bring it to the hotline, and get confirmation from Germany like we did.

I have not seen anything like this and I use several of these every month.

Not sure what needs elaborating.  If you are using V20 drives from earlier in 2016 that are FS09, and you are seeing strange issues that can't be explained, or those faults that I have listed, it is being caused by the bug in this firmware 3.8.  The fix is to update the firmware of the V20 to 3.9.  Note, that this firmware is ONLY for the FS09 drives.  It will not work on firmware 3.7 or earlier, and as of FS10, they are coming with firmware 3.9

This is a known issue to Siemens, but they are not publishing an FAQ or a tech alert on it.  This issue does not occur on every drive, and in some cases, the drive will fault, and reboot, so when you get to it, the fault is not being displayed.  I just updated 56 drives at a customer because we discovered this error and it was confirmed by Siemens.

I posted this because the only way others will know is to either struggle with it, call the hotline, and find out, or, google and hopefully this thread comes up.

We have an installation with nearly fifty V20 controlled by USS, we had the issue with random F100,F60 erors.

The bus speed was set to 115K and we changed the bus speed to 9600 and the issue has disapeared.

I hope this helps to anyone with this issue.

Thanks for your post; I suspect this is the problem one of client is experiencing.

I could not find were to download the new firmware or a procedure to execute the upgrade.

Do you have to contact SIEMENS to get the firmware V3.9?
