My next task is to make a modbus RTU application in C/C++ over one of the serial ports of the iot2040.

Is the libmodbus available or must I create it from source?

I need to permanently set a default route in the routing table:
route add default gw 192.168.1.1 eth0

Where should I add this?

The same goes for nameservers.

Later I created a shell script in /etc/init.d/ which added the default gw as well as added the two nameservers.

Then I ran update-rc

It works, but I do not know if this is a good way of doing it.

When creating the SD-flash from the *.wic file, the second partition is formatted as an ext3 disc.

When booted, it is somehow mounted as an ext4 disk. 
This cannot be correct?

During the full installation of node-red modules, the second partition has developed so many errors that it is beyond recovery. 

Maybe my brand new ScanDisk Ultra is bad.
Tried afterwards with a older (not Ultra) and it behaved better, no errors.

Using Eclipse and compile/link/download/run "HelloWorld" on the iot2040  works just fine.

But, setting up a debug session to set a breakpoint in HelloWorld seems to be black art. 

Can someone please shed some light on this very important issue? 

I cannot find any article that actually works.
