I couldn’t find it on google. Therefore, here I am.

I got myself a Sesotec Gateway Profibus DP which I must connect onto the bus. I got some doubts about the baud rate though.

In the manual, the following is stated about dipswitch 9: “Switch 9 determines the baud rate of the serial interface and thus also the selection of Genius (switch 9 off) or Genius+ (switch 9 on).”

According to the manual that corresponds as follow:

Genius, PC/PLC, 19.2 kBaud;

Genius+, SSTProt, 115.2 kBaud;

To my knowledge, most of the slaves adept to the baud rate of the master. But this device seems to have two flavors only.

My question is: if my slave is 19.2 kBaud and the bus is 1500 kBaud. Will it communicate as per baud rate? Or do they have to be equal? Or perhaps a slave can be lower in baud rate and equal but never higher than a master?

Looking forward to some responses as the supplier couldn’t give me a conclusive answer and I will be commissioning this gateway tomorrow. Try to stay ahead of the curve right.
