HI

I'm trying to install some packages using npm.

Therefore i need to install git with opkg install git. Git is installed, but when i'm trying to use npm install <package name> i'm getting an error : GIT clone needs openssl1.0.0. As far as i know, openssl is pre-installed on the example image but the version is v1.0.2g.

Has anyone already tried installing packages using npm? 

Can i downgrade openssl to version 1.0.0?

The purpose is to install openvpn with npm install node-openvpn.

Did you make sure to have a working internet connection?

Maybe it's because of your '--save'. I didn't use it and frankly, I didn't need it either. Everything works fine without the explicit command to install all dependencies packages. Maybe try it without that option?

I tried without the '--save' option and i got the same error.

Yes i'm connected to the internet. I can install packages using 'opkg' and i can ping some global websites.

Did you start from the example image from Siemens or did you make an image with yocto?

If possible can you type 'openssl' and openssl will start. When you type then version, you will get the version of openssl. Maybe your IOT2000 is installed with openssl1.0.0.

I've reinstalled my IOT2020. 

My ip is set, the IOT2020 is pingeable, but now sending a ping outside my network is not working. On the siemens forum i found that multiple IOT2020 are having trouble with this, but i did not found a solution.

So i decided to connect a wifi dongle. Connect it to my internet and a ping outside my network is working perfect.

Next step is npm install openvpn-client and it worked.

So my issue is related to the configuration of the eth0 interface. I can connect to the IOT2020 using putty. I can ping the IOT2020. I can ping my router from the IOT2020 and i even see my IOT2020 in my router. Why is eth0 not connecting to the internet?

Do you use a static ip address? If yes, you should also add an entry gateway with the ip address of your router. Maybe you have to configure a proper dns - server. For example, you can try to add the following entry in your /etc/resolv.conf:

nameserver 8.8.8.8
