Dear all, I am working with S7-1200 CPU with 30Kb work memory... From the Specification of the module the maximum MMC I can use is 4Mb.. My question now is that is it compulsory for me to purchase MMC or the work memory can be enough for my project.. I just want to know when I need to make use of MMC card... Without inserting the MMC card I believe that has no effect on my program? And whenever the power is out my program will still be retained on the CPU memory...

The MMC will not extend your work memory.
You do not need the MMC card for your project.
Mark the DBs you want to retain values through a power outage.

if you use a S7-300 or S7-1500 PLC you will need this memory card.

 Unfortunately no. With inverters you can use a normal MMC card.
