DavidBrown Posts: 975 Rating: (9)	We will be revamping an application where a V90 on profinet with servomotor will be used. We do not need to control the position of the drive, we only need to give speed setpoints. I already tested successfully the Siemens function block : 'Sina_Speed_Torque'. But now we see that there will be an additional requirement. The old (non Siemens drive) we replace gave pulses to a counter card on the plc. In this way the length of the material was measured. The application is a roller that puls wire continuously. I suppose with the V90 we don't have the option to output a digital fast pulse, so I should want to read in the position of the motor. I saw that in the telegram I use now (102) G1_XIST1 and G1_XIST2 is read into the plc. What is an easy method to have position of the drive in the plc? Do I need to use technology object in the plc? In that case I saw the 'external encoder' could not be connected to the V90 on profinet. I could choose 'drive' object (that could be connected to V90 drive). If I choose drive technology object am I obligated to use 'MC_POWER' and 'MC_MOVEVELOCITY', or can I continue to use my 'Sina_Speed_Torque' block (in fact I never reduce the torque).? Or can I directly use G1_XIST1 and G1_XIST2 variables? In that case which of the two to use? It is not necessary to have directly the calibrated position in the plc, I can calibrate that myself in the plc, and do calculations. So, please help me out in the possible solutions. <

On my case i have a incremental encoder with 2500 pulses and a fine resolution is 2. You should adpat this for your case . Let me know , if you need more details .
