S7Mgr Posts: 77 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I need one small favour from u peoples, regarding the placement of the IM-365 in the S7-300 313C 2DP system with following modules: 1. SM321 ----> 5 nos 2. SM322 ----> 2 nos 3. SM331 ----> 3 nos I have confusion regarding the placement ofIM-365 in Rack 0. Need to know, whether I can put it (IM-365) after DI/DO module in Rack 0. How would be my system architecture..?

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Normally IM are placed right after CPU - it's placed in 3rd slot. SMs are placed in slots 4-11, so they are coming AFTER IM. I would recommend placing DI+DO in central rack, and 3 AI in expansion rack. If you are just planning - take IM 360+361 - more expensive, but much more flexible.

S7Mgr Posts: 77 Rating: (0)	Hi, thanks for the concern.. But what about the backplane bus of IM-365...is it sufficient for the DI+DO module in that rack..... Somewhere I read it that, we can place IM-365 in fourth slot...!! what if v put it in3rd slot... do reply, bye

When your configuration does not require an interface module (single rack) then your logical slot 3 is left empty (in Simatic HWConfig); the first module to the right of the CPU will be a SM, or CP, or FM, but it must be setup in logical slot 4. The power supply requirementsmust be calculated taking into account all modules in your 2 racks, Rack 0 (central) and Rack 1 (remote); if this is done properly (see properties of the interface module below), then the IM 365 will transfer enough power for the SMs on Rack 1; but since IM 365 does not support the K-bus, modules that have communication requirements with the CPU(CPs and FMs) cannot be installed in the remote rack. Here is a description of the properties of IM 365 from the S7-300 module data manual: *8.4 Interface module IM 365; (6ES7 365-0BA01-0AA0)* Order number: "Standard module"6ES7 365-0BA01-0AA0 Order number: "SIPLUS S7-300 module"6AG1 365-0BA01-2AA0 Properties Special features of interface module IM 365: ● Preassembled pair of modules for rack 0 and rack 1 ● Total power supply of 1.2 A, of which up to 0.8 A may be used per rack. ● Connecting cable with a length of 1 m already permanently connected ● Install only signal modules in rack 1 ● IM 365 does not route the communication bus to rack 1, i.e. you cannot install FMs with communication bus function in rack 1. And if I am correct the off-line mall (CA01) has also a configurator onboard. For acopy of the CA01 off-line mall/catalogue you can ask you distributor or local Siemens office.

Nik3 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Two IM modules are labeled as SEND and RECEIVE. The SEND module is to be mounted next to the CPU, and RECEIVE is the first module in the expansion rack.
