PLC to HMI Message for No Comms / Connection Lost

ak104956 Advanced Member Joined: 11/4/2018 Last visit: 10/27/2025 Posts: 62 Rating: (1)	Hi, I'm using S7-1500 PLC (1511F-1PN) and TP900 Comfort HMI, I would like to display a warning message on the HMI when the ethernet cable is disconnected between the PLC and HMI to show that connection to PLC has been lost. How can this be achieved? I'm using TIA Portal V15 for programming Thank you

With this tag you can show e.g. a text-field with a corresponding message. Regards, Frink

When linking visibility of text, I can only see the HMI tags, it doesn't show the alarms so I can't link it to them... When testing it, the status tag on the HMI changes after about 20 seconds once the connection is lost. Is there anyway to make it change quicker? If not, then it's fine as it is, still works great. Vaux2 Regular Member Joined: 4/6/2012 Last visit: 9/11/2025 Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	I use the 140001 (disconnected) alarm to activate a ' PLC connection lost' page, basically a plain white screen with no template, with the text 'Connection to PLC Lost' flashing in the middle, and a maintenance login button at the bottom. As long as the alarm is active, the connection lost page is shown I then use the 140000 (connected) alarm to activate the HMI start page.
