Hello all.

I'm working with a Sinamics V20 drive which I am trying to get to work at 400Hz.

So I set the following parameters:

P310(rated motor frequency) - 400Hz

P700  - 2

P1000 - 1

P1082(max.frequency) - 400Hz

P2000(reference frequency) - 400Hz

But I cant seem to set a higher frequency than 50Hz as is default by the operator panel. What parameter am I missing?

you seem to be using the right parameters, I guess you have done a factory reset and started again?

This is a high speed router type of motor?

I cannot find anything on FAQ's which relate to this type of snag, it should do the 400Hz, configured from 'factory default', as you have done.

I suggest you log a 'Support Request', see the top of this page, and see what they recommend at Siemens.

The firmware version in r0018, and the part number will be required to confirm the drive which you have.

Parameters with V20, some have indices, like P700 = 0001 = 1, for example.

Are all your settings in the same index?

I set my v20 to work on 100Hz in fixed speed mode (Cn003 macro), and it''s OK, work fine now in commissioning period... But if you want to do that you must change few more things... for example

P1082 ---- Max motor frequency set to 100Hz

P.S. I'm a little bit curious and affraid what will happened with this motor and v20 in future after few days of work on that frequency, or months...?... Is there a some limit for v20 to work on higher frequency? For example on 100Hz?

It may be possible to achieve high speeds with an asynchronous motor, continuous operation may cause the rotor to fail, centrifugal forces on the rotor bars may fracture, and bearings may fail.

The impedance of the motor coils will increase as the supplied frequency from the inverter drive is set to high levels, this will reduce the current flow through the coils, reducing the motor torque, at some point the motor will stall, as the torque is inadequate to overcome the windage and friction of the rotor.

Some increase of speed and torque may be achieved by connecting a 230 / 400 Volt, motor in delta, suitable for 230Volt operation that is, and supplying the motor with 400 volt supply from the inverter drive. This extra potential will overcome the increase in coil impedance as the frequency is increased.

High speed spindle motors achieve high speeds in this way, by having coils wound specifically to accommodate high operating frequencies. Take notice of the name plate detail here in order to match the inverter drive to this type of motor.
