trying to figure out can we write our own protocol using the RS-485 builtin interface on S7-300 or S7-400 Cpu's

Not as easy as I thought it was going to be to be honest. All working now though. I have got experience in writing modbus,ethernet ip drivers using C++,VB.net and C#, Iam trying to figure out can we write our own protocol using the RS-485 builtin interface on S7-300 or S7-400 Cpu's. If so how can we access RS485/ Ethernet port on the PLC's. Please guide, else if you have any code project for this. In case of PN port, there are existing libraries for MB TCP but you need pay money, basically. If you have other questions (what you want implement exactly), go ahead... Update: I see you want write own protocol but in other side PB DP port of S7-300/400 (also you didn't post exactly what port you mean because also next one can exists, I expect MPI) can be used with some Gateway for MB TCP functionality, but I see this only as idea not solution for you in case of own protocol build. Solution but exists...
