Hello, I have problem. During VPN connection, I can see all items, plc, inverters and hmi in VPN router. I can connect to plc and inverters through VPN, but can't connect to hmi. Then I do search accesible devices in TIA portal, I see all except hmi. Connected VPN router directly to hmi, start online search, it shows that 0 devices accessible. I done ping and it shows OK.

First time I got that HMI not shown as accesible device as PLC is accesible. 

During commissioning at the customer I had no problem to connect to HMI directly.

Any ideas?

just tried, but unsuccessful. As you can see PLC is connected.

. I can see and connect to all Siemens devices except Siemens HMI. HMI at the factory controls PLC fine (I mean profinet cable problem I exclude).

VPN found HMI IP only after router was directly connected to the HMI, Siemens was not able to connect to it.

I just manually entered to VPN HMI IP and MAC when VPN is connected to switch, now HMI its online and ping is OK, but Tia portal do not finds it:

The most interesting is for me who's faulty settings or what, VPN or HMI?

try to open the transfer settings in your panel and see if the transfer mode is automatic. 

I have the same problem, I changed the route address of the Hmi to the VPN address but doesn't work

We have exactly the same problem. I can ping both the PLC and the HMI over VPN, but I can only connect to the PLC. (I can connect to the HMI over the local network instead of the VPN.)

We have tried two different KTP700 units.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

I have had the same problem today.

I have been able to get around the problem before, but the workaround is rather complicated:

1. Using TeamViewer remote control to, I copied and installed Simatic ProSave on the remote PC. (Simatic ProSave can be found on the installation or tools disks for TIA, or can be downloaded here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/no/en/view/10347815 ) The file is about 477MB, so this could take a while.

2. I found a folder named SysWOW64 in my Windows directory, and copied it to the remote PC. The folder has a exe file named s7epatsx, which is the Step 7 Classic dialogue box for "Set PG/PC interface"

3. I ran the s7epatsx.exe on the remote PC to select the network card which is connected to the PLC and HMI.

4. On my computer, in the TIA portal, I made a Pack & Go zip file by right-clicking the HMI panel -> HMI Device Maintenance -> Pack & Go.

5. Copied the Pack & Go zip file to the remote PC and unzipped it.

6. Ran the exe file in the unzipped folder on the remote PC, and watched as the remote PC loaded the screens to the HMI panel.

I have had success using this workaround in the past, but today I got an error message from s7epatsx, saying "S7DOS software maybe corrupted !!!". The "Set PG/PC Interface" dialogue box still appeared, but my Pack & Go transfer from the remote PC to the HMI panel failed.

The solution to my problem today was:

1. Connecting to remote PC using TeamViewer remote control.

2. Used Sm@rtClient to connect to HMI.

3. Stopped Runtime, and changed the following:

     -Added gateway to the HMI network settings

     -Changed Tranfer setting from "PN/IE" to "Ethernet", also making sure the

       box for Automatic transfer was checked.

4. Closed the settings window and restarted runtime (This is probably not necessary)

After disconnecting the remote control and connecting TeamViewer VPN, then setting route, I could now download new screens to my HMI panel, using "Ethernet" in the TIA transfer settings.

  I confirm it is  needed to change transfer in HMI from Ethernet to PN/IE or transfer via VPN/Open VPN..... will not run.
