TIPs:

• The IO Field units and data formatting could be configured in its properties, General, Output format. Clicking on Static Value field, you can navigate in different possibilities.
• Once an option is chosen, its syntaxis is showed in the propriety field between braces. For example, if you choose “Integer – Separated: 1,234 (#,##0)” the value {#,##0} will be showed. Then you can edit it manually (within certain limits, for example, reducing one decimal place: from {#,##0} to {#,#0}) or use it as reference for dynamizations.
• It is possible to add free text before and after the braces. It would be showed together with the tag value. You can use it to show the value unites (for example, kg, m/s, etc.)
• In special, for timer values, the “Duration” formats are very interesting. As didactical proposes, in my example I use an internal tag to forward the format to the "Dynamic Output format" IO field and buttons to set values to this internal tag. The internal tag is also visible in a separate IO field. This permit to user “sees” what are doing behind the buttons. But it is just as didactical proposes…

Similarly, you can use the system function SetPropertyValue to change property directly without any internal tag or auxiliar IO field. If you need some sophisticate feature, you can convert this system function to Java script and adapt it.

general suggestions: split your task in small parts to check where the problem is:

use the script trigged by time

use constant instead to read a tag to the format value

use trace instruction / RTL trace view to check what is happing on each step.
