Strange behaviour ET200isp / FW update?

bocatadeatun Posts: 163 Rating: (3)	Hi colleagues, we´ve been experiencing a strange behaviour lately with ET200isp in PCS7 installations.We´ve got 3 plants where they have several ET200isp installed. Without any logical reason the IMs lose activity randomly in each one of these installations. As a consequence, the I/O modules in the same rack lose communication. Thus, many signals are lost. We checked modules, IM settings, installation getting to no conclusion at all. But we found out that a normal situation can be reached by (and that´s the strange thing) moving or hitting softly the modules. Because of this, we´ve suggested these 3 costumers to update FW of the IM as described in the document below... http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21344491 (reason: "faults on the backplane bus") Could you please confirm that this situation has been already reported and that a FW update solves it? We have been battling now for months with this ET200iSP rack losing modules randomly and it happens days apart. The Siemens help seems to not be pointing us in the right direction. There must be a problem with this ET200iSP equipment, I cannot understand why Siemens don't make this known and give people the correct remedy!! Have you had any success in solving this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is with a whole host of the I/O cards manufactured between a certain date. I have seen an internal Siemens document that describes these errors, so they have acknowledge these problems. The following module types are affected: Order number Description Product version 6ES7 131-7RF00-0AB0 8 DI NAMUR Product version 4 and 5 6ES7 132-7RD01-0AB0 4 DO 23.1VDC/20mA Shut Down "H" Product version 2 6ES7 132-7RD11-0AB0 4 DO 17.4VDC/27mA Shut Down "H" Product version 2 6ES7 132-7RD21-0AB0 4 DO 17.4VDC/40mA Shut Down "H" Product version 2 6ES7 132-7GD00-0AB0 4 DO 23.1VDC/20mA Shut Down "L" Product version 2 6ES7 132-7GD10-0AB0 4 DO 17.4VDC/27mA Shut Down "L" Product version 2 6ES7 132-7GD20-0AB0 4 DO 17.4VDC/40mA Shut Down "L" Product version 2 6ES7 134-7TD00-0AB0 4 AI HART, 2DMU Product version 5 6ES7 135-7TD00-0AB0 4 AO HART Product version 6 These modules were produced between 06/2007 and 06/2008. Only specific serial numbers are affected as well. In the end Siemens replaced the modules (in my case 8 DI Namur and 4 AI and 4 AO cards) and the faulty ones were returned to them. The problem I had was exactly as yours no doubt, loss of I/O and rack with power down and up sometimes solving it, but pulling out the power supply and reinserting it did the trick. When asking more questions it turned out the fault was with the connection of the cards to the bus modules, with the modules getting 'lost' from the rack and needing to be reinserted manually to get the rack working again. (I might be paraphrasing a little, I going on memory here) We used to have failures at a rate of one a month, very frustrating, sometimes going months before the next failure, giving me hope but to no avail. My suggestion is to contact the Siemens directly and ask them about these module failures and how to solve it. If you don't come right, I could try the Siemens people that helped me. Check the serial numbers as well, only certain cards are affected. Don't accept all the 'check this' and 'check that' advice get them to cut to the chase and check this issue in their archives for known issues. Shout if you need something else, I would hate someone to struggle as long as I did to get this resolved. Cheers Philip

I can make configure whit hardware manager but I can't see on bus line. I used same card DI-DO-AI-AO and I bought new :) this yera (2016 ) Thanks for your answers

Our problem was solved by Siemens free issuing the faulty modules as a replacement. We did not do any FW updates, modules where faulty. See attached document sent from Siemens.
