hello everyone, i´m starting in the sinumerik world and i have a lttle question...

I have made applications of this type communicating PLC 1200 with an application using the S7.Net library and also the OPC server but I don't know if these same libraries can be used or there is any other that allows direct access to the sinumerik control, thanks in advance for your help. 

In principle you can use the same library, at least to access the internal PLC of the NC (which is a "normal" Siemens S7-300 PLC, or a S7-1500 in newer versions).

However, I think that the S7.Net library allows you to communicate with PLCs only via an ethernet interface, and not all the Sinumerik NCs support ethernet communication.

Which NC family do you have to talk to? Power line or Solution line? The "840D solution line" NCs allow ethernet communication, the "840D power line" not natively (you need external interfaces).

Another thing: in this way you can accss the PLC data, but not the NC data (or not directly: you should first transfer the data from the NC to the PLC, and then read it from the PLC).

Another way could be to use the OPC-UA protocol.It is possible to activate this protocol on the recent Sinumerik CNCs. Via OPC-UA can be accessed both NC and PLC data.

There are also other techniques (for example via RPC), it depends on the NC version ...

I need to read Tool offset data from the PLC or the NC i really don´t know where is this data.

Tools data are normally stored in NC variables.

II suggest you to use the OPC-UA protocol.

Sinumerik-side, you have to activate an option to enable the OPC-UA communication ("SINUMERIK Access MyMachine/OPC UA" option).

VisualStudio application side, you can use any OPC-UA library (there are also open-source libraries, such as open62541 C library).
