Spindle referencing

munarza Posts: 30 Rating: (1)	i have a spindle that driven via motor encoder and there is no a second encoder. i want to reference this spindle axis but there is no response from the spindle when i tried to send reference. Everything seems ok , there are enable , pulse enable and the referencing MD's seems ok but nothing happens. Do you have an idea , what i have to do and what i have missed. Cant i send the reference spindle with one encoder. The second part of my question is , how can i send spindle axis to the reference from part program? could you help me about it.

TSH Posts: 73 Rating: (2)	Hello Please tell us the type of controller for full assistance. Spindle referencing is normally done automatically when it isrotated for the first time inpositioning mode. Older systems try in MDA/MDI:-M19 S180 the spindle should rotate to 180 degrees and at the same time carry out referencing. Newer systems (840D)try:- SPOS=180. the spindle should do the same. Both the above depend how the spindle is set up to reference i.e from an external reference switch or from the encoder reference marker. Machine data may need modifying. Good luck

The problem is a little bit more complex. For example: -If the spindle is directly driven by the motor, or the transmission ratio is=1, it is not a problem if you don’t have a second encoder. -If the spindle it is driven by the motor using a gear ratio, you must have a second encoder, or at list, a zero signal from the spindle. munarza Posts: 30 Rating: (1)	There is a gear between motor and the spindle but there is a reference switch signal also. So you can seek that signal before reference mark of the encoder. And why i have to need a second encoder if there is a gear. There must be a way to reference spindle with one encoder on the motor

CAM); set MD34060=360 in MDI mode program: s1000 m3//m0// spos=0 then reset on MCP, set to MDI-REF or JOG-REF mode press + key on MCP; spindle should run in a low speed and you will see on screen REF reached maker(round black-white). when it works then you can set MD34000=1 to try your REF switch. ref in part program: S100 M3//G4F4//SPOS=0//G4F2//G74 C1=0(your spindle name in axis ) good luck!
