How to transfer Tag Configuration data

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (14)	Hi all, I am working on a PCS7 V7.0 SP1 project which has ES/OS, Server and 2 Clients. In the ES/OS, all the tags have been configured on the WinCC. There are almost 355 tags which have been configured under TagLogging on the ES/OS machine. My question is à how do we transfer all this Tag Configuration data from ES/OS to the Server??. We want even the Server to Log the data for all the 355 tags. So without having to re-create the tag configuration in the Server, is their any easy way to transfer only the tag configuration from ES/OS machine to the Server without making use of project duplicator. Niranjan Prasad Posts: 691 Rating: (37)	You can transfer the one WinCC Project configurations to other project using "WinCC Configuration tool" which you have to install . It doesn't come with PCS7.

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/22/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, normaly the tags are created by compilation of the OS, if these tags are manually created, you can use the export/import of the tags, open the start menu SIMATIC->WinCC->Tools->TAG Export Import. If it doesn't there, you have to make the additional install, you can find it on the disc in WinCC installation /Tools (or somewhere there). Another possibility is to copy. In WinCC explorer mark all the tags in ES, rightclik and copy, close the ESproject (not the WinCC explorer) and open OS project, here rightclick and paste. Regards Sydney

CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 10/3/2025 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hi Nil, if i understood well you want replicate "tag definition" and "tag loggin archive" in other OS station. if yes, you have to perform 2 steps but you need Import/Export additional tool. You can install additional tool running installation of WinCC from WinCC folder located in PCS7/WinCC DVD installation and select custom installation:check "WinCC Configuration Tools" when asked (can look a lil different maybe - i don't have installation DVD with me right now). Well about 2 steps now: 1 - use import/export function for the tag definition 2 - use "WinCC Archive" menu installed in Excel to export/import "Tag loggin archive": maybe you need setup a lil manually in destination OS before perform import/export. Time definition and other few thing need to exist in destination OS. Hope can help you a lil Regards

If that so, all you have to do it, just go to the server in the simatic manager and right click on the OS station and click on the PLC Download. This should download all the required information from the ES toOS.The same can be done to the Archive Server, Client etc.I presume that you are using a multiproject configuration and configured your ES,OS and clients. Actually this is the advantage of a PCS7 system or a multiproject system. You can work on the main project and odwnload the project into the respective stations. Tag Export and Import are used where you want to copy tags into another project which could be in the sme multiproject or a different project altogether. Krish.

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (14)	Hi all, Thanx for those quick replies. Infact, in my machine I didn't find TAG Import/Export. So I did install the configuration tool from PCS7-->Wincc. Opened excel and from the menu "wincc" selected "create project folder", I selected "establish connection to existing project". This gave me an error stating that "Run time error 91. Object variable or With block variable not set". Any ideas why this happens. Also I am still unable to find TAG export/import under simatic-->wincc. Regards Nil
