S7 explorer communications problems

Abyrne Bronze Member Joined: 11/26/2008 Last visit: 10/20/2025 Posts: 101 Rating: (4)	I have S7 explorer installed on my Field PG M. I am connected to a CPU224XP which is powered on. My connection cable is a 6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0 set up in the following dip switch configuration : 1=0 2=1 3=0 4=0 5=0 6=1 7=1 8=1 This should be a PPI set up with a 9.6 baud rate. My PG interface is set to CP5611(PPI) <Active> I am getting a communications time-out error. SYNI error in Device\S7opciax0. Attached is the SINEC2 log. Can anyone help me overcome this issue? Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, try the following setting for DIP's at the PPI cable: All 0 expect DIP5=1. This is PPI Multimaster advanced. Check if your PLC has a differnet baudrate (9600, 19200 or 187.5kb) Switch the PLC to stop mode to dissable Freeport. In General the S7-200 explorer shares the interface with Micro/WIN. So if you can transfere a program (Up/Download to PLC) then the same setting work with the S7-200 Explorer. I hope this helps

Are you using the adapter 25 pin to 9 pin? Because the 25 pin port is COM1 Or use the CP5611 (PPI), then you can use the 9 pin port and a MPI cable. Best regards, Wizard
