S7 200 RS485 Serial Port

Deleted User Posts: 767 Rating: (69)	Using a third party HMI (sorry) with a S7 200 PLC. In Step 7 Win program, the only serial communication protocol I can set up is the Baud Rate. When I set up the serial communication protocol in the HMI, I match the Baud rate between the two devices, but I do not know what the S7 200 communiction protocol is(parity, no of stop bits,no fo characters, etc.) in order to match them inside the HMI. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Put the Data bits = 8. Put the Stop bits = 1. Put the HMI station No. = 0. Put the PLC station No. = 2. Have Luck. Tomy the Master.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, the protocoll setting is only one part you need to know. What protocol is your HMI able to communicate: PPI, MPI, Modbus-RTU, Modbus-ASCII, Can, ........... After the setting of Baudrate, parity, stop bit, you need to know what "language" (protocol)is needed. regards
