SITRANS FUS060: Totalizer value on PC through HART protocol

danw Gold Expert Joined: 3/28/2010 Last visit: 12/30/2025 Posts: 1202 Rating: (220)	I assume that there is some reason that the 4-20mA output from the FUS 060 in-line ultrasonic flow meter is not useable for whatever data it is that you want? The FUS 060 is available with Profibus PA (which takes the place of the 4-20mA primary output), but the FUS 060 has either HART or Profibus, where either is mutually exclusive of the other on any given device, meaning it's one or the other, not both. Profibus PA is not listed as compatible protocol (pg 218, SIMATIC HMI WinCC flexible 2008 Compact / Standard / Advanced User's Manual, 07/2008, A5E01024750-02 ), whereas Profibus DP is. I'm not a Profibus guy, so I can't tell you how Profibus PA-to-DP conversion is handled. But even if it is, it sounds like your flow meter has analog Hart, not Profibus PA. I searched the 4 or 5 documents that I have for WinCC for the term "hart" and "HART" got zero hits. From that, I conclude that in its native state, WinCC is not HART compatible. The same list of protocols that lists Profibus DP includes Modbus (page 218, above) One method to read HART data might be to use a HART to Modbus converter and have WinCC read it in Modbus - the Moore Industries HCS Hart-to-Modbus converter box; http://www.miinet.com/products/sg_hart.shtml - GIE SA's Hart-to-Modbus converter; http://hartmodbus.giemdp.com.ar/

It is posible to use our HRT2MDB Hart to Modbus protocol converter as a concentrator to read once a second the four dynamic variables or up to eight of the device variablesof any hart device and then get them from any Modbus OPC Server o SCADA software.
