Connection to the old computer was via IP network. Old computer in not in function any more. Now when I connect new computer, I 'm getting error message that network has limited connectivity. IP seetings are auto (DHCP). In WinCC project under Tagh management ->TCP/IP under properties I can see that IP address is 192.168.1.5 (That is S7 network address). Now, since there is no connectivity when IP settings are in auto, what IP address and subnet mask I need to enter in Windows (XP)? Is this IP address in wincc project a PLC addresss, or it is address that it needs to bein wincc computer network settings? Thank you

You have tu ensure, that you can ping the cpu from the computer. So at first I would recomment you to ensure, that the ip address of the pc is in the same logical network as your PLC. (For this topic you can see this faq. Read the capital: IP-Addressing) When the ping from pc to plc is successful, everything should work fine.(If you don't know the ping command, you will also find description in the faq i postet above) best regards

I have setup IP address of new computer to 192.168.1.7 and after that there is full connection. Ping command returns all packets successfully. But still there is PLC connection problem. When I start wincc application I see that there is no actual connection to the PLC because there are no process values. When I use Tools->wincc channel diagnosis I see state as "disconnected" Do you have any advices? Is it possible that this address needs to be setup on PLC side as well? Thanks

Now, I don't know what IP adrress was on the old computer. I know that PLC address as configured in wincc project is 192.168.1.5. So, naturally I assume that wincc computer IP should be 192.168.1.x New wincc computer ping successfully PLC on addres 192.168.1.5. The real question is:Do I need to know exact IP address which was steup on old computer in order to have fully functional connection to PLC? Thanks

I have problem with winCC v6.0 I thout it would work immediately after ping was successful. I'll try to guess correct IP tomorrow (start from 192.168.1.1 up to....)
