I have a safety system where multiple safety methodologies combine:

Emergency Stop System – 3 x Duel Channel Emergency Stop Buttons – Individually wired back to ET200s Safe inputs.

Guard Stop System – 1 x Duel Channel Guard Isolator – Wired back to ET200s Safe Inputs.

Safety Gate System – 1 x Duel Channel Proximity Sensor - Wired back to ET200s Safe Inputs.

Each system interacts with each other.

Example: A Drive Motor’s power is isolated by a contactor fed by an ET200s Safe Output Module until the following is satisfied:

Safety Gate System is closed.

Guard Stop System is ‘On’

Emergency Stop System ‘Healthy’

How do incorporate these systems into Safety Evaluation Tool?

Do I create three separate safety functions:

Emergency Stop System

Guard Stop System

Safety Gate System

And list the drive motor contactor in each group? – As I’m using multiple contactors for multiple drives this reduces the overall PL level of each system, the tool adds up the fault tolerances of each contactor.

Or do I create a safety function for each motor listing each all the above safety devices for each motor?
