Urgent help needed on Bus fault

Bouncer12 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I am facing problem of momentorirly bus fault in profibus network. There are multiple ET 200S connected to The CPU. The bus fault problem randomly appears on any of one or more ET200S,. The PLC controls machine, thus, on bus fault, it gets goes to normal stop and than in to the emergeny mode . The problem is appearing randomly after a span of a day or two . Following action taken till date, assured the healt of 1) profibus cable, connecter, checked shield & termination 2) ET 200S 3)I/Os one by one 4) base / power module 5)Repeaters/Cp/Cpu. When ever the Fault occure the PG gets disconected and the diagnostic buffer shows OB85 /86 /122 in it. Kindly do help me on that Thax

Bouncer12 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	hi Hristo Mihalev i did not get your point can u kindly elaborate what u are trying to say about OBs.the system is an old one it was working properly for approx 10 years and than suddenly the bus fault appeared about a couple of months ago

And the to check in Diagnostic buffer of CPU. It might that the reason is always the same, but different profibus is affected. Or at least detected. Marcjan Diamond Member Joined: 4/22/2010 Last visit: 3/31/2025 Posts: 5697 Rating: (716)	Hello, Umencho means that you create and download the OB's the CPU is complaining about(may be left empty), this will in most cases prevent the CPU going to stop and gives you time and tools to search deeper. One more thing to check, are the outputs on the ET 200 powered with the same supply as the modules? If yes, there could be a voltage drop if a few outputs are onat the same time. Regards, Marcjan

Have you use multimeters to check terminators resistance? Do you use terminators on connectors or external active terminators? Do you use profibus repeaters in your network? If you have one spare you can install it somewhere in the middle on your network to amplify and form signal. What is bus speed? You can try to slow it down to make communication more distortions resistant. regards, goblin

Bouncer12 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	the fault appeared about 48 hrs ago it took us whole night to aknowledge the fault .After a struggle of more than 8 hours we were able to identify a faulty bus connector and the fault was aknowledged the machine ran smothly for 48 hours and than again this morning the fault appeared bring the line to a halt but this time the fault appeared only on one perticular TB we have replace the connecter of the Tb and aknowledged the fault but still the exact caiuse of the fault is not yet identified. In context to Mr.goblinyes the system has repaeaters .we have replaced the profibus b/w the stattions at which the fault appeared more frequently but was still were not able to cure the fault . We checked the health of the connector witht he help of multimeters by turning the Terminating resistance on and off.A couple of them were found faulty we replaced them with healty ones.... As for checking the healt of the whole profibus cable kindly do suggest a methhod using multimeter to check it Thanks
