Hardware difference IM151-1 Standard and HF

In the project there is a IM151-1 Standard (6ES7151-1AA05-0AB0) with a lot of analog input and output and some digital input and output. During compile function the result was: the amount of data is too long for this CPU. Ok, I decided to change IM151-1 Standard with IM151-1 HF (6ES7151-1BA02-0AB0) and with the same modules connected the result of compile function was OK. So, which is the difference between the Standard and HF if in official description is written " DATA VOLUMEN 244 BYTE FOR I/O" for both? Thank you

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/18/2026 Posts: 3054 Rating: (1062)	Hello andreadbx you are correct, the cylic I/O related data can not exceed 244 Bytes as this limit universally applies to all DP Slaves. Your problem seems to be related tothe Parameter data though which are sent to each DP Slave on bus startup bythe DP Master as a once off. The limit for the Parameter data is also 244 Bytes if a GSD file based configuration is done. Typically though, you'd drag in the ET200S from the inbuilt HW catalogue (aka "metadata" based configuration) in which case Siemens employs a little DP-V1 related acyclic "trick" that allows you exceed the 244 Byte limit for theParameter data. There area few prerequsites for this to work though, which can be found on page 11 ofeachmanual for the IM151-1and which are: 6ES7151-1AA05-0AB0: For configurations as ofStep7 V5.4, it is possible to operate the IM151-1 STANDARD from 6ES7151-1AA05-0AB0 in DPV1 mode with more than 244 bytes of parameter data. 6ES7151-1BA02-0AB0: For configurations as ofStep 7 V5.3 SP 3, it is possible to operate the IM151-1 HIGH FEATURE from 6ES7151-1BA01-0AB0 in DPV1 mode with more than 244 bytes of parameter data. Based on the above please check the following: 1.) Is yourStep 7 versionperhaps older than V5.4? 2.) Did you by accident do a GSD file based config of the IM151-1 STANDARD (6ES7151-1AA05-0AB0)? My version of Step7 is v5.5 sp2 and every month I make hardware update so I think I have the last one. In effect I never try to change from DPV0 to DPV1. To solve the possible mistake about GSD file I download a new GSD folder here:https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?query=im151-1+gsd&func=cslib.cssearch&content=adsearch%2Fadsearch.aspx&lang=en&siteid=cseus&objaction=cssearch&searchinprim=0&nodeid0=10805259 I try to make some test and then I report the result.

I put the same component I have inside IM151-1 HF but the result is the same. I report the message (translated maybe not so good): [code] The length of the parameter data of slave "(12) ET 200S (IM151) DPV1" (System master DP 1) exceed the max limit written inside GSD fileSI04806A.GSI. [/code] No problem I continue to use IM151-1 HF. Thanks
