Delay S7-200 PLC Run after power failure

whtrader Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hi, Is there a way to delay the plc transition from STOP to RUN after it is power on? Note that I am using SM0.0(always on bit for many of my networks). Please advice. Thanks.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, what do you need exactly? If there is a power off condition and the PLC change to RUN mode then you use SM0.3 to detect this condition. Sm0.3 is "1" for one scan if the power comes back and the PLC change to RUN mode. Is this what you are looking for? regards Helmut

I would like to prolonger this change of state due to user requirements(say 5 minutes). I do not want to modify my ladder as i have use many of SM0.0. Can this be done? Thank you for your time.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, here is my proposal: Use SM0.1 or SM0.3 (depends on you request) at the first network of you Main program. Execute a SBR. In this SBR program a closed loop for the time delay you need. In this loop you have to use the WDR instruction. Otherwise the PLC will change to stop mode because of the watchdog time out (500ms). If your time is complete jump out of the loop. After that your normal scan should be executed. Please observe if your scan is in the loop then nothing else will be done expect Interrupts (no read Inputs, no control outputs, maybe no communication, ....) This is I think the simplest way to get your requested time delay. As I know there is no register you can change to get this delay by default. I hope this helps. Regards Helmut

Jomy Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	You can not delay the PLC going to RUN. But try this. At the first network, set a bit (example m2.0) on if SM 0.1 is ON. I In second network, if M2.0 is on, run an ondelay timer. When timer bit turns on reset M2.0 In third network, if M2.0 is ON, stop rest of program by using an 'END' If you also need a replacement for SM0.1 for rest of you program, set a Bit (EgM2.1) as you reset M2.0 and resetM2.1 at the last network with SM0.0 This should work

moggie Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	If it is only on power up you require the delay then simple install an external (electronic/electrical) timer that delays the power onto the S7 200 CPU. Use the "delay on" type. The coil of the timer is energised via mains on the control panel and the normally open contact is used to power the CPU. Set the delay on the timer for ????secs/mins/what ever you decide.
