How to disable an axis in 840d

alexmac_uk Posts: 118 Rating: (1)	Hi, I want to be able to disable the C axis on a CNC machine. The C axis is a 360 degree rotary axis. I managed to do this and referenced X,Y,Z and tool changer. When I came to run a program though the controller knew that the C axis hasn't been referenced and threw up an error. Have I missed something? A setting must need changing. I've changed 14512 [1] from 0H to 8H. Also MD 30130 and 30240 have been set at 0 and I did an NC reset.

eric.eula Posts: 4 Rating: (1)	Set DB AXIS bit DB3x.DBX1.3. (encoder parking). Axis will be then sleeped (no more position or speed control) This solution requires to clear DB3x.2.1 end DBX21.7. Any way, if your program is calling this, axis, you will get an error ... ! When returning to the usual conf (DB3x.DBX1.3.=0), , axes will require to be referenced again. An other solution is to disable the axis with its NCMD NCMD 30130[0] & NCMD 30130[1]=0 NCMD 30240[0] & NCMD 30240[1]=0 + Power-On NCK (idem DB3x.2.1 end DBX21.7. =0) Theses solutions do not allow you to disconnect the motor (drive power unit MUST be pulses off) Your program can read & check the NCMD $MA_CTRLOUT_TYPE[...,0] to avoid to call the axis
