Connect KTP600 DP with PC

DanielCozma Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, First of all, I want to tell you that this is the first time I want to download a program to a KTP600. So, I have a 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0 USB-MPI converter, a KTP 600 DP, and a PLC 313C-2 DP if it really maters. I have checked the DIP switch on the back of KTP, and it is in the position for MPI/DP/PPI (all up). The settings for the panel are: Chanel 1 - disabled Chanel 2 - enabled MPI/Profibus, and remote Control disabled. MPI/Profibus settings: - Panel is the only master on the bus: checked - Address: 4 - Time-out: 1s - Transmission rate: 187.5 kBaud - Highest station: 31 - Profile: MPI I have connected the MPI cable from converter to KTP, and USB to PC. In WinCC flexible the settings i have made in Communication - Connections are: HMI Device: - Type: Simatic - Baud rate: 187500 - Address: 4 - Only master on the bus: check Network: - Profile: MPI - HSA: 31 - Number of masters: 1 Before i tansfer anything, i hit the Transfer button on KTP, and it displays: "Connecting to host..." When i want to transfer anything, this error message apears: "No connection could be established. Please verify your settings, interfaces, cables, device type etc.", and nothing happens on the KTP. I would really appreciate some help. Regards, Daniel

I have already read that before posting here, and from the phrase: "Notes on USB PC adapter (6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0)and .... These cables are released only for the devices below for project transfer and OS updating: ... KTP600 Basic Color DP ", I understand that my cable fits my needs. The bad part is that I am unable to make my PC communicate with KTP using just this converter.

Now it works. @anyone: Not having a siemens connector was a problem for me, but i bought 2 DB-9 male and 1 DB-9 female connectors and soldered wires between them like this: Male-PLC Female-USB adapter Male-KTP 1 -- -- 1 -- -- 1 2 ---------------- 2 2 3 ---------------- 3 ----------------- 3 4 -- -- 4 -- -- 4 5 ---------------- 5 ----------------- 5 6 ---------------- 6 -- -- 6 7 ---------------- 7 -- -- 7 8 ---------------- 8 ----------------- 8 9 -- -- 9 -- -- 9 shield -- -- shield -- -- shield I still don't really know why it works. I suppose the PLC acts like a master in the MPI network. Thank you very much for your help.
