 You can connect sservo motor to MM440 & its encoder needs to be connected to drive & not to PLC. It is general answer.

To know how - please provide motor MLFB number, MM440 MLFB number & CPU314C-2DP details.

 You cannot use MM440 to run servo motor, no why! it is no sense. MM440 was designed to run normal AC motor with or without encoder, this application or saying combination is economic and suitable way. MM440 mostly focus on speed control (NOT position control)

Even for Siemens MASTDRIVE--The Big brother of MM44 (CUVC AND CUMC) are mostly used for speed control running normal AC motor . (CUMC can be used to position control)

If you want to use Siemens control , you need know Siemens policy . If you want to run servo motor, Use SIMODRIVE 611U--IT SHOULD BE similar value as MM440. new version you can use 

SINAMICS S120 . they all can be connected to 3rd party servo motor

**FYI---"The MICROMASTER 440s are a range of frequency inverters for controlling

the speed of three phase AC motors. The various models available range from

the 120W single-phase input to the 75 kW three phase input."(from Siemens MM440 Operator's manual,04,2001)

I have just connected an ac motor to mm 440 and when I need to use an encoder I have just connected it to my plc (CPU S7 314-C 2DP) as you know CPU 314C -2DP can be use as positioning controller and it control position well, but because of the slip of ac motors, after some start and stop it would lost its position  . so I dont have a servo drive and still needed to run a servo motor for positioning, do you think I can use mm440 for running and my plc for controlling position?

Where you mount encoder? On motor or on slide?

Positioning means what? conveyor or job or table or axis? Please specify the application.

The asynchronous induction motor is a ‘squirrel’ cage device, where torque is derived from the difference between the supplied frequency and the actual rotor frequency.

The ‘servo’ motor may be a permanent rotor where the rotor position is critical for operation, hence the need for an encoder or resolver. 

The Micromaster MM440 does not have the control necessary to regulate the rotor position, even if the encoder module is used. 

No, MM440 cannot operate a servo motor; best to do the job correctly and specify a servo system complete.

as I understand from all of the answers, the main problem for this project is my positioning control of the servo, but this would be no problem because I have done this before and connectan AC motor with encoder feedback to mm440 and its encoder connected to PLC 314C- 2DP, these kind of plc's have unique  trait to read position from encoder and control drive with its DO's(digital outputs) or AO's (analog outputs), the encoder is connected to digital inputs of PLC, I don't have problem with positioning and I know I can solve it but my main problem is the electrical power connection of servo and mm440, Is there any problem with this?
