The SIMOTICS manuals provide very few details about the encoder options. Although the output pins are provided, I can not figure out what are their functions and what is the communication used. Is there any other document with a more detailed explanation for each encoder option?

I am interested in encoders without the DRIVE-CLiQ. I saw that the absolute encoder has A, A*,B, and B* signals (see attached picture), are those incremental signals? will they be available if I order an absolute encoder?

For an incremental encoder, I would like to know for example if the signals at the terminals of the incremental encoder sin/cos 1Vpp are analog or digital signals. Is there any option which provides digital signals for an incremental encoder?

I would really appreciate any help. I have already called Siemens many times and they just keep transferring my call which is extremely frustrating.
