RPM counting using DI 16x24VDC HF module

MUKUL NIKAM Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	First question is Can I use this module to measure the rpm or frequency in S7-1500 ? I want to measure RPM up to 3150 rpm. If yes how to measure or count using DI HF module ? I have referred the manual S7-1500_counting_measuring_function_manual and s71500_di_16x24vdc_hf_manual. But both the manual does not describe how to use DI module to count or measure programmaticaly. It only define the configuration of the module and description of interfaces. I have not found Counting sample program using DI 16x24VDC HF module. How to use the module to count the rpm or frequency ? HSC instuction in S7-1500 does not detect this module

MicroMan Platinum Member Joined: 11/29/2011 Last visit: 2/4/2025 Posts: 1362 Rating: (233)	Hi, The HF modules usually allow you to configure HW interrupt. That allows you to count the pulses in HW interrupt up to a certain frequency. You can evaluate the result in your user program afterwards!

MUKUL NIKAM Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	I can configure the hardware input but I don't know how to use interrupt the measure pulse count.Do I have to put add integer logic to count pulse , every time hardware interrupts come ? I cannot simulate this in simulator as it does not support hardware interruption simulation. Can you provide any sample example for the same ?

So you have to implement the counter yourself. Example. Well I have no example for your specific task, the closest I have found is using OB40 to monitor a counter value in a "TM Count 2x24V". See the example Counting and Measuring with the Counter Module "TM Count 2x24V"
