S7-417H dowloading Hardware Config That will not stop CPU

Reymond Posts: 112 Rating: (0)	Hi, I just want to ask if Both CPU will stop if I download new hardware config to redundunt CPU s7-417H. And also can I make downloading the same time to both CPU. And also is it normal that the standby CPU is in Stop Mode. Thank you very much.

Niranjan Prasad Posts: 691 Rating: (37)	If you are downloading the new Hardware Config, then its required to download in both the CPUs in stop mode Downloading in the redundant CPU won't update the hardware Config. and also the standby CPU won't be be in stop mode when these are restarted

Hi Beginner, it is possible to download hw configuration in run mode for H-CPU. You have to follow some rules. You see the chapter 14 of the Fault taulerant systemmanual. (edition 5/2008) In brief, Both CPUs do not stop simulataneously. One is always kept running. The standby CPU is put to stop first and modified config is downloaded. The control is then switched to this CPU with modified configuration (other CPU goes to stop now) CPU with old config performs an update, synchronizes and becomes standby. Now remember that during this switchover the PIP image is "frozen", so make sure nothing high speed and very critical is running.

Ssc_Mikro Posts: 196 Rating: (12)	Hi Begginer You can use the function ”compile and download objects” in Step7 . The function can be found under the ”PLC” menu . This function can handle the download job for HW configuration and function blocks ind the right sequence. Just remember not to be online on the plc when you’re downloading from this function ore have selected multiple blocks
