I am not saying I do not agree there could be more 'reference projects'. I agree there could be more reference projects and examples within the online documentation in the portal showing several ways to use each instruction for normal and expected usage of those instructions. Very powerful to be able to copy right from the help file into the editor like you can for computer programming projects.

Jacky444 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	hello, Just download the file and had some doubt with the addr_1. the command that was key in was P#DB1.DBX0.0 BYTE 2 . Now DB1 is referring to which db that is meant for read/write and byte 2 refering the number of data to read but what does dbx0.0 refer?

DBX0.0 in that context, namely, P#DB1.DBX0.0 BYTE 2, means start in DB1 at byte 0, bit 0, or the beginning of the DB. The DBX0.0 is common in pointers like this.

Jacky444 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	PLC 2 and PLC 3 its data type is 'word' and PLC1 is reading/writing the address of PLC 2 and 3 as 'byte'. won't it be a problem/conflict? if there no problem does it mean say i one to read/write PLC 2 or 3 with different data type, i just make sure the address i am refering is correct?

MrPaiva Silver Member Joined: 6/29/2010 Last visit: 6/22/2020 Posts: 112 Rating: (62)	Hello Jacky444, The syntax "P#DB1.DBX0.0 BYTE 2" is a pointer, with this syntax we are accessing the 2 first bytes of the DB1, and these bytes were declared as a word. The "BYTE" of the systax is a unit of data to be accessed, not the type of the data.

You need a equal or superior versionto open it. SIR Experienced Member Joined: 2/2/2007 Last visit: 12/20/2020 Posts: 50 Rating: (3)	Hi folks, I had a Step 7 V5.5 project which included three 300 PLCs linked in a Profinet network. I need to connect one 1200 PLC (CPU 1212C) to the same network which had to exchange data with one of the 300 PLCs. It turned to be easy to do that. I opened the Step 7 project using TIA V11 SP1. The hardware and the network appeared normally but the software was inaccessible. Nevertheless it was possible to link the 1200 PLC in the same network. Then I wrote my software for the 1200 PLC, which included GET and PUT blocks, and loaded it. Then connected the 1200 PLC to the network with the three PLCs and it worked! No additional changes in Step 7 project were needed.
