Hi, as my master thesis i have been asigned to use a fully working program to a freezerline and are supposed to implement PackML to the program. I'm 100% new in the field of PackML and are not sure where to begin. The program has about 350 plctags, 60 functions, and a total of 800 networks. The networks are very basic since it was originally written in Step 7 for a 300-system The program was orignially written in Step 7 and has now been converted. Can you by any easy way "convert" a working program ( LAD ) to function as PackML? Is it easier for a new programmer to start over and write the program inside a PackML template of some sort? all tips are most valuable to me, Best regards,Jonas Olin |

Have you seen this? How you should proceed with the software you have it's hard to judge not seeing it. |

Hi, PackML is just a standard used between packaging machine to communicate with each other. It's not a programming language in a PLC. You need to study the actual PackML standard to see what kind of data struckture is needed for the communication with other machines. At OMAC website, you can even get some ready made libraries to Siemens. https://www.dmcinfo.com/latest-thinking/blog/id/9463/beginners-guide-to-omac-packml |

No it's not only communication standard. IMHO the most important part of the PackML is the definition of a general machine behaviour with unified state machine.
I don't think you can get them from OMAC website. |
