Using Ident Profile check for presence mode?

The idea is to see if an inventory command was successful in restoring presence mode. I believe Owie's response answered the question originally presented.

Do you want to check if the reader is in presence mode by placing a tag in front of it an watching LEDs? From PLC side you can use the Reader_Status block (or CMD 0x74 for Ident_Profile block) with ATTRIBUTE 0x89. After executing you can analyze the IDENT_DATA buffer to check if reader is in presence mode or not.

Yes, I was looking to check on the PLC side. I am still working on my RFID white belt so I still get some duh moments. Thanks for the info, the Status command was what I was trying to find! When I trigger the Status command the inventory_status still shows 0 when it should show 2 for presence mode active. Does anything else need to be configured?

I have gotten data by using an array of bytes. So I guess this is like the Inventory command in 81h where the TIA Portal and s7-1500 do not support the IID data types. Is there a way to check for a reader error and tag presence in a similar fashion, using status calls? I did not see either of these in the data type layout. Attachment output.png (742 Downloads)

You will receive reader errors at the output parameters (ERROR; STATUS) of every ident block in case it occurs. If the blocks don't set the ERROR parameter there are no reader errors. You can check for tag presence while the reader is in "presence mode" at the output parameter "presence". As far as I know there is no possibility to check for presence using the status blocks.

This works, you read the bytes for the status word and check for a 2. I was just hoping that the reader had some sort of generic error holder separate from the blocks.
