I have bought a new S7 200 smart plc CPU - sST40. 

I connected it to my programming device but i cannot see the ip address of the CPU. 

I added the default IP address i.e 192.168.2.1 and tried to connect, but error came showing the port is not connected or used by different device. 

I want to configure it and download the program.

Please help me configure it. I am using this for first time

Note Software used is Step 7 Micro Win Smart

Try setting your PC to a fixed IP address that is in the mask range of the PLC. I would expect 192.168.0.1 as a default for the PLC.

If your soft is like step7 microwin v4.xx :

control panel --->pc/pg interface --->select "pc/ppi cable(ppi) -->proprety -->local connexion "usb".

(default adress : 2)

if not, which cable do you use ?

Software used is "S7 Micro Win Smart" the problem was that i was unable to connect it through ethernet cable.

I found the problem. The IP address of PLC was 192.168.2.1 and my c ip address i changed to 192.168.1.1 the problem was that the third part of the IP address of both PG and PG should be same so ip address should be "192.168.1.0-255" and for PC 192.168.1.0-255"

Note - IP address of both PG and PC should not be same in order to communicate.

       Default IP address in S7-200 smart CPU is 192.168.2.1. Like, in Simatic manager, we assign IP address by searching its MAC ID. Here is same case. So, for new CPU, you can search MAC address, and assign your IP address (if needed). Otherwise, it has already configured IP address.

        In my case, my laptops IP was 192.168.0.50. After searching IP, I got CPU mac address and IP address without changing my old IP settings.

        Once I got CPU IP address, I changed my PC seeting same as PLC setting. i.e changed IP address as 192.168.2.50 and downloaded program in PLC.
