PLCSIM+SIMATIC NET OPC SERVER

I have tested this with a S7-300. The question is, can I replace the real PLC with PLCSIM and still use SIMATIC NET OPC server to serve data for my application? Thanks a lot Mehrnoosh

Ates Posts: 198 Rating: (17)	as i know, you can not.. but as i know you can not normally use wincc with plcsim too but you can use it.. hmm so i am personally confused about it, but i think plc sim cannot simulate communication tasks. if i would be in your place i would do like this : i dont know if you use 5611 but i would try to change my interface to mpi because i could use wincc with plcsim when tags were under mpi, (or it was maybe profibus) anyway i would try to change it to mpi if necessary in opc computers hardware in ncm s7 put 5611 and try something like that.. hmm but in this conf you will get maybe error if you dont have 5611 in your system.. i dont know i think you can not do this sorry :) just hope that maybe dec or jbell can help your question if its possible

I use it a lot for customer presentations, proof of concept,training etc. The problem with PLCSim and OPC is that PLCSim detours S7ONLINE access point for PG Layer 4to PLCSim interface so any application (STEP7, WinCC, ProToolPro) that uses S7BlockServer (PG Layer 4)hits PLCSim when use S7ONLINE access point. S7 OPC does not use S7BlockServer (uses S7-API)for communication so even when you manually configure the OPC-Connection/tags like S7:[S7_Sim\|VFD_Sim\|S7ONLINE\|01.00,2,02.02,1]MB0 the call goes direct to SCP s7onlinx and open the physical CP adapter that was assigned to S7ONLINE. All you will have is bad quality tags and you miss the connection to PLCSim [:cry:]. Dec
