Amedia access control address(MAC address) is aunique identifierassigned tonetwork interfacesfor communications on the physical network segment Use PST Primary Setup tool for setting IP address to the device. As a basic..all PLC's comes by default with a MAC address.. You need to assign an IP address to the PLC for your IP based ethernet communication which you will assign it in your program(TIA V12). But this IP address(hardware configuration) needs to be downloaded to the PLC first. So inorder for that you need to connect the PC with the PLC and search for the accessible devices. when searched you will find the CPU with the default MAC address. Select that CPU and download your configuration. Now your IP address will be downloaded to that PLC and you can now address that PLC using the newly downloaded IP address. Note: Select the right ethernet interface card while searching the accessible devices. Also make sure that your PC/Laptop is in the same network/subnet that of the PLC's IP address.
