Dear MicroMan, Good questions. Recently Im facing similar argument with my colleagues as well. Our client has certain requirements in IO assignment and some IO must be group into specific IO cabinets due to multicore cable. We faced a lot of issues in changing IO. My ideas were not putting Absolute address in IEA file but symbolic name only. When I would like to update the IO, i will copy all symbols and IO in Excel and replace all in the symbol list. Due to priority of the driver block, it tends to follow IO absolute address rather than symbolic name. The workaround for my problem is to reassign all signals again. My colleagues were to put absolute address in IEA, then they dont need to update symbol list and ressign signals again. Two different opinions. What do you think? (Try collect more opinions, cause im bias to my own ways of doing things) Second questions, do we really have an assignment to make symbolic name as priority? I never configure such parameter before. |

All, I think you overlooked #DP's very good answer, because he was leading you to the answer instead of just telling you. So here I have taken a screenshot of how to set your blocks folder properties for symbolic addressing priority. If you set this, you can move your symbols to any I/Q address you want and your channel drivers stay connected with the symbol. |
