connecting to TP170B with WinCC

Stevej42 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello folks I'm having trouble getting on line to a TP170B using WinCC. The project on the HMI is in Protool, this i know for sure, but i have the origenal source code that is now converted to WinCC format. I've modified this project and I want to up load it to the HMI. The trouble is, it refuses to connect for me. I'm using a Null Modem cable via the RS232 port (take it this is the same as the zero modem cable it says to use?), via a usb to serial converter in the lap top. I've been told that i will have to update the operating systgem on the HMI to accept a WinCC project, but i don't think this has anything to do with not being able to communicate with it, it does not get that far! your help would be great.........learning as i go here out in the Wild West!! Regards Steve

Sometimes it works and sometimes not, because of this i never use such adapters. Can you try it with a CP (f. e. CP5511) via Profibus or haven`t you got one? best regards.

Look there What transfer options are available in the various operator panels?Unfortunately USB/PPI is not possible to use there. Best regards, Hristo MIhalev

Have you tried setting the pg communication toyour ethernet port. It worked for me Hi, The TP170B does not have an Ethernet port. Also the OP170 does not have one. Only new TP177B PN/DP and OP177 PN/DP have Ethernet ports. Best regards, Wizard

Yanto Posts: 54 Rating: (2)	Hi You are quite right it doesn'thave an ethernet port. If you read how to upgrade the firmware it tells you to connect to the serial port with a serial lead but set your interface as ethernet. This does work on the op170b I am programming one now using this method.
