Non Stop blinking of all LEDs at Stdby S7 417 4H CPU - Unstable State Occurs

vikkipro Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Dear All, I found problem that all LEDs are blinking at STDBY S7 417 4H CPU suddenly at site. I have checked some of the following things, 1. Power off and Unrack Stdby Cpu. 2. Removed memory card RAM 4MB and returned it back. 3. Remove interface Sync modules out and checked But Master CPU is running healthy, all LEDs are blinking at stdby CPU side where as RUN LED and STOP LED are blinking alternately. Even with laptop, Stdby Cpu is not communicated. Please find the attached Diagnostics buffer. Could anyone pls help me out form this. Its urgent. Attachment CPU_Laststate.pdf (996 Downloads)

Hello, It is getting a very very Frequent Question and we are still waiting for an official guideline for encountering/resolving such cases.I suggest the easiest way to send the faulty CPU to repair shop to check but prior to that do the following checks: hdhosseini for such a case there are some preliminary tests before sending the CPU to a local repair shop: Save the diagnostic buffer of the intact CPU and upload it here to see what was the cause of redundancy loss. Before next power cycle of faulty CPU, put it in STOP mode and check its behavior.If the CPU enters the STOP mode try to communicate and read the diagnostic buffer .In case of performing memory reset before going to STOP (Empty Buffer), try to test Link up and Update .Check the buffer in case of error. Check the proper grounding of main rack based on "Automation System S7-400 Hardware and Installation" Manual. There is an empirical method to check adverse effects of a faulty sync. module on a CPU.Inspect the sync. module and replace some with new ones and check the CPU's behavior. If non of steps help you , sending your faulty CPU to repair shop is inevitable.Please find the local service representative from "Contacts Worldwide". I have checked the buffer of your CPU , but note if both CPU were working in the redundant mode, the moment of redundancy loss in buffer of the intact CPU explains the cause of failure of faulty CPU(it is not available in your case).Try again by putting the faulty in STOP mode after power cycle and read the buffer. Best regards, Hamid Hosseini Totally agree. I don't think that updating firmware will solve the case here because it happen in one CPU. So, why the other CPU remain in Run with the old firmware. If you could tell us exactly what happen in the system in the moments before all leds blinking? We will need a sketch for the HW config. Another quick way will help you to reach to the reason, is to contact support. You have to tell them everything happen before all leds blinking, and they will send you an e-mail asking alot of questions. And they will give you a diagnostic tool called "S7-Dump" which you can use to get diagnostics during leds blinking. You will not being able to open its ouput file. You will send the output file to support and they will tell you the reason of all leds blinking. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, yes i make update firmware both CPU,until now its ok before that i used to get LED blinking unevenly like for 6 month once such problem where can i get S7 Dump tool,

No one can help the most except the enginner itself who checks the CPU's behavior at the cabinet. RF interferences , improper grounding , possible electro-static charge flow from battery leads to internal circuits of CPU and corrupt FW. Saving the content of CPUs' buffer and send it to support team may help and case may lead to sending the CPU to workshop.But , the main point here is improper handling of CPUs and ignoring facts mentioned in installation manual/CPU's manual may cause the same problem again! I suggest investigatinng the main cause of problem to solve it to avoid future occurence. Best regards, Hamid Hosseini
