Currently we are using PCU 50.3 in 840D Pl system, after 10 years of rotary hard disk we got problem from it, rotary hard disk not getting boot & creating noise in it.

so we have decided to remove all machines rotary hard disk & replace with 120 GB SSD.

so is this possible to do? What actions/Prevention we have to take anybody have done this.

we have also a Hard disk size of 1TB SATA Will this also work in PCU 50.3.

We have used 120GB SSD in PCU 50.3- C by using Ghost 32.exe file loading by ghost software & we have also taken trial of PCU booting that successfully working.

we got this SSD 4000 INR & Siemens Quoted us 70000 INR for HDD, What the mean by this we didn't understood, Any idea?

If the old harddisc is sata, you could replace it with a ssd, but you would need the drivers for the os. Windows has special features for the use of ssds. If you want to keep the warranty, I would open a hotline case and ask for a possible replacement ssd from Siemens. They can tell you whether your hmi base has to be updated for support.

Never heard of this inr before and search is messed up because of currency inr conversion ;-)

Did you use an SSD with success?  A year or two ago I thought we had tried to use an SSD in our PCU  6FC5210-0DF22-2AA0  with no success but I can't remember if it was due to the SSD drive or not.

If I hear that it has been used with success I may try it again but after reading about "trim" and additional steps necessary to keep it running smoothly I am having second thoughts about using an SSD with Windows XP on a 840D pl.

Yes it works we have systems with 840D SL & 840D PL,

In Both systems we have replaced SSD 120GB WD make.
