Hello payam.h Let me try to answer your questions : a) It is not unusual to have BCU communicating with relays downstream and SCADA upstream. It is fairly common. b) Yes SICAM AK1703 does support Redundancy and Redundant communication over IEC61850 to relays as well as to SCADA. c) Also I think SICAM BC 1703 ACP - Bay Controller also supports IEC61850 communication as Server as well as Client ( Pl see attached brochure). So it should be possible to communicate with IEDs in IEC61850 ( Where BC acts as Client ( Master ) and relays act as Servers ( Slaves ). Further the BCU can communicate with SCADA on IEC61850. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag AttachmentSICAM_BC_1703_ACP.pdf (173 Downloads) |

Hello payam.h The 6MD BCUs are capable of Goose Communication over IEC61850 with other SIPROTEC Devices. ( Pl see attachment ) I am not sure if this meets your requirements. In any case both type of BCUs are from Siemens Energy Division. You can ask your Siemens contacts of you can use SICAM BCU in place of 6DM6x .. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag Attachment6DM_BCU_Communication.pdf (108 Downloads) |

don't give up! contact support.ic@siemens.com and explain the customer wants a BC to communicate to relays over IEC61850 and to a control center in... 61850. Mention that you are already looking for alternatives to this solution, but you want to know if the customer only accepts this solution, if there are any concerns in the configuration in TB II.
